Carel van Swaay was admitted to the Dutch Bar in 2011 and joined Pels Rijcken’s Corporate Law team in early 2017. Carel advises companies and private equity parties on national and multinational mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructuring and corporate governance issues. He has extensive experience with controlled auctions and complex national and international M&A transactions. Carel regularly advises Dutch government agencies on participations in private companies.
He received his master’s degree in Financial Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam and completed a postgraduate programme in mergers and acquisitions at VU Amsterdam. Before joining Pels Rijcken, Carel was a senior associate at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam where he advised listed companies in various sectors on private acquisitions and public bids. He is fluent in French and English.
