Femke van Herk was admitted to the Dutch Bar in 2008 and joined Pels Rijcken in 2015. Femke is specialised in civil employment and pension law, with extensive experience in individual dismissal cases, where she represents both employers and employees as well as statutory directors. She advises on and litigates in cases involving employee co-determination, collective redundancy, employment and pension rights in mergers and acquisitions, and outsourcing. Femke also advises education and healthcare institutions on the Executives' Pay (Standards) Act (WNT).
She graduated from the University of Groningen with master’s degrees in Dutch Private Law and Criminal Law. Prior to joining Pels Rijcken, she practised law at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek. In 2013, Femke successfully completed the postgraduate programme in Employment Law, PALA, Erasmus University Rotterdam. As a lecturer, she regularly provides follow-up courses in employment law to other attorneys, inhouse counsel, and HR consultants. Femke is a member of the Dutch Civil Servants and Law Association (VA&R) and The Hague Employment Lawyers Association (VHAA).
