Luc Defaix was admitted to the Dutch Bar in 1992 and joined Pels Rijcken as partner in 2016. Luc is chairman of the Corporate Law department and his mission is to expand the Corporate/M&A practice. He has a track record in national and multinational mergers and acquisitions and related auction processes, and advises on joint ventures, shareholder agreements and (management) participations. His clients include national and multinational companies, private equity firms and informal investors. He also advises central and local governments in complex, strategic files.
Luc studied business economics at the HEAO in Utrecht and obtained his master’s degree in Dutch Civil Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Between 2006 and 2010, Luc managed a private equity firm, where he was primarily responsible for various acquisitions, gaining operational experience at the various technical industrial companies. It is this experience that Luc’s clients recognise and appreciate greatly in his approach as a consultant. Luc is a member of the International Bar Association and regularly lectures on corporate governance issues, business development and negotiation strategies. He is fluent in French.
