Maaike van der Zee is specialised in the law of security and insolvency law. She advises her clients in relation to financing and security. Maaike also litigates and advises in the field of contract law and insolvency law, particularly where these two areas of law overlap. Maaike conducts proceedings on behalf of her clients mainly against insolvency practitioners in (large) bankruptcies. Maaike assists governments as well as semi-public institutions and large financial institutions, health insurers and other commercial legal entities.
Maaike studied Dutch law at the University of Groningen, specialising in private law and business law. During her studies she studied for a period at the University of Bologna in Italy. Maaike completed the Grotius specialisation course in insolvency law cum laude. Maaike is a (prospective) member of INSOLAD, the specialist association of insolvency lawyers. She is also a permanent contributor to the journal Onderneming en Financiering.
