Max Beekes joined Pels Rijcken’s Criminal Law department in 2018. He represents and defends the interests of the Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security in cases involving criminal (procedural) law. He also represents the Dutch State in civil proceedings involving such issues as eviction of squatters, enforcement of sentences, attachment under criminal law and compensation for damages. He advises on issues at the intersection of criminal law and civil law.
Max graduated cum laude from Tilburg University with a master’s degree in Dutch Criminal Law and a Research Master in Law with honours in 2017. During his studies, he worked at the criminal law department of Tilburg University and completed a one-year traineeship with the research department of the Dutch Supreme Court.
