Meryem Eddini has been a member of Pels Rijcken's Spatial Planning and Environment team since 2018. Because of her broad legal focus, she is involved in a multitude of cases in the field of planning and environmental law. These cases include environmental matters (civil liability and administrative enforcement), spatial planning issues (at planning and permit level) and proceedings concerning the Nature Conservation Act. In addition, her focus also includes the legal aspects of climate change and energy transition. Meryem is dedicated, thorough and tenacious, and loves to explore complex legal issues in depth.
Meryem studied at Utrecht University, where she obtained her bachelor's degree from the Utrecht Law College honours programme and graduated cum laude with an LLM in Dutch Constitutional and Administrative Law. In her master’s thesis, Meryem proposed a review of the electricity market and associated regulations to speed up the energy transition. While at university, she was an active member of various associations and volunteered with the Legal Aid and Mediation Association. She also gained important experience as a trainee and student employee at two large law firms. Having lived in Spain in her youth, Meryem is fluent in Spanish and Catalan as well as Dutch and English.
