René Kiers heads the Construction and Procurement Law team. He regularly acts for the Dutch State and other government bodies and institutions in complex arbitration and court proceedings, mainly in infrastructure disputes. In addition he advises on public tenders. If these tenders should lead to disputes, he does not hesitate to bring preliminary relief proceedings. René is also trusted legal advisor to several shipyards and regularly acts as arbitrator.
René received his master's degree in law from the University of Leiden. He was admitted to the Dutch Bar in 1981 and first started practising law at Loeff Claeys Verbeke. In 1999 he became partner at Pels Rijcken. René lectures on procurement law at the Free University in Amsterdam, and is a trained mediator.
