René Spit is mainly engaged in advising on, setting up and supervising structured sales and tender processes, investment transactions, securitisations, property law structuring and designing real estate developments, transformations and infrastructural projects (including divisions into apartment rights, rights of superficies and leasehold rights). In many cases he works closely with Pels Rijcken's attorneys. He is also highly specialised in turnover and transfer tax issues pertaining to real estate transactions. His clients include the Dutch government and other (semi-) governmental bodies, (institutional) investors and companies.
René obtained his master’s degree in Dutch Notarial Law from the University of Groningen. He started his career as a candidate civil-law notary at Huzink Hilarius Kamphuis Notarissen in Hengelo. He then moved to De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek. In 2003, he joined Pels Rijcken. René was sworn in as a civil-law notary in 2010. René regularly gives guest lectures at Utrecht Law College. He is a member of the board of: the Owners' Association Inner City The Hague, the Inner City The Hague Foundation, and The Hague Regatta Foundation. He is also a member of the Dutch Royal Notarial Professional Organisation, the Construction Law Association, and the Haaglanden Real Estate Society.
